AZ Women Racing: Cotton Classic TT #1

AZ Women Racing: Cotton Classic TT #1: "Race Report: Great day for Jobing.com Women's Racing.  Catherine Dickson pulled double duty in the 20K and 40K.  She finished 1st in both d..."

"Run for the Mountain", Snowbowl, and "Cotton Classic TT"

Weekend started off in Flagstaff with a 5K "Run for the Mountain" event. Finished in 32 min which isn't bad considering I'm not used to running in such cold weather, elevation, and hills...oh...and running isn't my sport haha.

After the 5K some teammates and a few others rode Snowbowl- I didn't ride to the top because I had to get back to Phx AND I had to save some energy for racing Sunday. Snowbowl is relentlessly brutal...but beautiful and a great workout! The day started at 40 degrees and warmed up into the 60's.
Calories burned for the day- approx 2000

Today I raced in a Time Trial- Cotton Classic
My second TT...First TT was straight up South Mountain (totally different course)
This course was flat which provided me with a baseline
20K- 37 min, burned 800 calories, average bike cadence 98
I continue to get racing tips from teammates and racing friends...Special thanks to Andy, Louisa, and Edwin!
An interesting tidbit...The TT was male dominated today- as I was waiting in line for my start time I was in a line of all guys. They proceeded to tease me the entire time I was in line. I was annoyed but played along...couldn't let 'em see they were bugging me.

SoMo TT, Avondale Crit

I raced in my first TT 5/7/11: South Mountain TT
Had a BLAST! Was a very interesting experience. The Jobing.com Women's Racing team won the climbing championship trophy!

Raced in the Avondale Crit 5/8/11: Crits scare me lol...but I love the speed and rush I get from doing them. There was one crazy lady who was not keeping her line and kept shoulder checking people...but other than that the Jobing.com ladies did great and worked hard! I managed to stay with the pack the whole race...woot woot!

Running Diva, Mermaid Diva, Honorary Running Diva: "Race for Hope"

So yesterday was the 3rd Annual Race for Hope for all Cancers that the divas, Lori, Sonya, & I (Jacque) ran. Well, Lori & Sonya ran, I walked/ran it. After having a stomach bug all last week, I hadn't run at all so yesterday's run was a challenge for me. I took a nap on Sunday afternoon to recover from the early morning requirements of said run and woke up with legs that felt like they should be cut off. I was a little puzzled because I have never been this sore after a run before. So this morning on my way to work I had a light bulb moment...Duh, your legs are sore because you were lifting kegs while working Saturday afternoon...and that my dear, is why your legs are killing you...occasionally I have some real blond moments!

Running Diva (Jacque) update part 2

So in preparation for the boot camps Koviena and I have been working out at the gym across the street from work in the mornings. We were supposed to be there at 6, but we tended to arrive at 6:15 or 6:30 or not at all, depending on the day. So Koviena says to me that we should do the yoga class because it starts at 6am and we would have to be there on time. I agreed since I have done yoga and liked it. We show up the next day at 6 and the class is already starting. We immediately join in. This is a little more advanced of a class than I was expecting. You continue from pose to pose without many breaks in between. But there was this one position and I don't remember what all the instructor was saying to do because I looked over at Koviena and lost my balance laughing at the expression on her face. "You have got to be kidding me" is the pc version of it. I thought I was going to die laughing, which didn't make the instructor very fond of us. Then she says to move into the warrior II pose. She wasn't standing up front demonstrating, she was walking around. So I move into what I thought was warrior II, but was really warrior I and Koviena was following my lead. So the instructor says to the class, "My two newbies are in warrior I when I clearly said warrior II" You can imagine what the two of us thought, and it wasn't very nice! :) Needless to say we haven't been back. My back was too sore for the next week, plus I don't think she's the right instructor for us. We will have to find another reason to get to the gym on time to prep for the 5:30 am start time of boot camp.

Running Diva (Jacque) update

So Koviena, my co-worker at the school, has talked me into a Pink Boot Camp to help get into better shape. AND there was a groupon for it, so we were VERY excited to get the session for $89 versus $199 for a month. Unfortunately, Koviena was in physical therapy so we were not sure which session we were going to do. There was one starting April 25 and one May 31 that were were going to try to sign up for with our Groupons. The week before the April 25th Session Koviena decided she was ok to start the April 25th session...but they were SOLD OUT. We were devastated! Well, not really but we thought ok, we will just do the May 31st session. (I am going to Iowa to visit my family and there will be beach & pool time so I WILL be wearing my two piece bathing suit...and not the tankini this year! so the May 31st session was a must!) But it wouldn't take my groupon...technical difficulties. I called the Pink Boot Camp and they looked into it. Unfortunately they only allow 14 groupons per session. But he would squeeze me in. I explained that we needed two spots. So he made us an offer...$100 off the price if we would sign up for the May 31st session and pay for it at the discounted rate and then we could use our groupon for the next session starting July 5. So we got TWO sessions for less than the normal price of ONE...very excited about the deal we got!!! Wish us luck - we hear it's brutal but the results are worth it!
